Route Point

The Route Point tool allows you to indicate a point where route can be connected.

Also, you can use the route point to connect different engineering systems, to designate equipment connection point, to refine the route, or to divide the route into multiple sections, such as building sections.

To refine the route, we recommend editing the route using vertices.

To create a route point:

1. On the tools panel, click Designation – Route point tool.
2. Specify Parameters:

	Route point name.
	Level Determines the route point level.
	Vertical offset. Determines the vertical offset of a route point relatively to the insertion point.

3. Specify an insertion point.

The route point can be connected to one or two of any engineering systems using two ports.

To make the route of the system pass through the point:

1. In the model, right-click on the route point and select Select in system > System category name in the context menu.
2. In the systems tab, define the connection for one of the ports.
3. If a route point is needed to connect engineering system routes of different categories, repeat the steps by selecting another category in the context menu.

If at least one port of the route point is not connected to the route, then all system categories are displayed in the context menu. If both ports are connected to routes, then only their categories are displayed in the list.

A route point can be added when editing a route.

To add a route point to an existing route:

1. Select a route using the Select tool.
2. Move the pointer to the segment midpoint .
3. Select Add route point.
4. Specify the location of the new route point on the selected route. The route is split into 2 routes that connect at the route point.

If a route point is connected to two routes of the same engineering system and the directions of the routes coincide, it can be replaced by a vertex.

To replace a route point with a vertex:

1. Select the route point connecting the two routes.
2. Move the pointer to the insertion point.
3. Select the Replace with vertex option.

In addition, you can replace the route point with a vertex in the system tab:

1. In the System tab, select the route point that connects the two routes.
2. Select the Replace with vertex command.

In order to modify, copy or relocate the created route point, select it using the Select tool.

If the route point has been connected to a route, the connected routes will be rebuilding automatically while moving the route point.
